The Hermiston School District accepted the resignation of Dave Smith at Monday’s regular school board meeting. Candidates may apply for the vacant position by completing an application and submitting it to the Superintendent’s Office by 3 p.m., on Friday, August 23, 2019.
Candidates will be interviewed at the work session on August 26. The selected candidate will take the oath of office immediately upon appointment. In May 2020, this individual may stand for election, and if elected, may fill the remaining term of office until June 2023.
“Mr. Dave Smith has served on the board since 2011, and his passion for doing what is best for kids is very commendable,” said Board Chair Karen Sherman. “Serving on a school board is a tough role. As a board we have faced difficult situations and decisions. We appreciate the service he provided to the students, staff and community. I am grateful for his stewardship and the time we spent together. He will be missed!”

La Mesa Directiva del Distrito Escolar de Hermiston aceptó la renuncia de Dave Smith en la junta directiva este lunes. Los candidatos pueden aplicar para el puesto vacante completando una solicitud y entregándola a la Oficina de la Superintendente antes de las 3 p.m., el viernes, 23 de agosto del 2019.
Los candidatos serán entrevistados en la junta de trabajo el 26 de agosto. El/la candidato/a seleccionado/a tomará el juramento inmediatamente una vez que se haya hecho el nombramiento. En mayo del 2020, el individuo puede buscar ser elegido, y si es seleccionado, puede completar el resto del mandato que termina en junio del 2023.

Como directiva hemos enfrentado situaciones y decisiones difíciles. Apreciamos el servicio que ha provisto a los estudiantes, personal y la comunidad. Estoy muy agradecida por su buena administración y el tiempo que pasamos juntos. ¡Lo vamos a extrañar!”
